Hot bunnies

I find an ice cube does make em happy when it's over 80.

New litter

Lilly's litter is 4 days old. I think because of heat she has not been nursing much.  I have been very carefully holding her and putting the kits on her belly.

This also looks to be the most colorful litter I have gotten.

Angora seconds

I have been saving a big bag of not prime fiber for the last several  month. I hate seeing fiber go to waste - thus I have been saving everything that comes off the rabbits.

I soaked it vinger over night I then died it with Kool-aid. Given that it wasn't prime and had been died with Kool-aid I had to hand blend it together. The finished result is nice. About half of this is plied with merino- but I ran out thus I Navajo plied the rest.

Lunch for a week

One rabbit is providing me with lunch for the week. Potatoes and kale from the garden round it out. Nice to know where it comes from and a sense of accomplishments is cool to.

Doe Hormones

Dear Molly- you are 4 months old. You are not pregnant. Stop pulling out your fur and building a nest. I promise when your old enough - you can have babies. But I would like to show your coat and if you continue like this I won't be able to.
Love your rabbit mother.

Bunny Sitting

I am getting to enjoy 2 Himis for the weekend. They are very sweet and cuddly. Wish they had more uses - then I might breed them.

Lady Denim finds her person

Lady Denim came to me from Arkansa. She was compact but had a white toe nail and reproduced it.
I got 2 nice does from her thus I felt like it was time to move her on. Personality wise she was okay- she grunted a lot when I groomed her.
When Kelley came over to meet her she feel asleep in her arms. To me this means she found her person.

Non molting vs molting

Al's coat has molted at 4 months old. I was hopeful for a little while that he might hold it. He looked really good at about 2 1/2 months.
The hardest thing for me about this moving on rabbits that won't meet my needs. But I want a rabbit that will hold a coat for a year and has a great compact body.
In contrast this is Oceanside Angoras Raven who is the same age as Al.

California bunny show

Attended a rabbit show in Cali today. It got hot but not horrific hot. You could teal the angora from wa- she was attempting himi posses. Drinking ton of water. She was the only one in her class - but the comments on Oceanside angoras Molly were very positive. Looking forward to showing her as a sr.

Coats

There are 2 different type of coasts in EAs. Molting and non-molting. Molloy is looking to be non molting. At 4 month -No slipping and no webbing.

Al on the other hand is molting at 4 months. He is webbing- coat is slipping and seems to be growing 3 coats at once. I am letting his coat grow out for a while to see what happens. Breeding is such a werid process of balancing out the desirable traits - his personality is great.
